Minor Cold
January 5th, 2026 is "Minor Cold".
With the new year comes the real cold weather.
The first day of Minor Cold is called "the beginning of winter," and the combined 29 days of Minor Cold and Major Cold are called "the middle of winter," marking the start of the coldest period of the year.
For this season of cold weather, we blended "Okumidori," a white tea from Makinohara City, Shizuoka Prefecture, with "Kurocha," a post-fermented tea from Ehime Prefecture, and combined it with strawberries, Kuromoji leaves, and Japanese citrus peel.
The earthy aroma of white tea is pleasantly blended with the sweet and sour taste of Kurocha and strawberries.
You can enjoy the delicate taste and gorgeous aroma at your leisure.
This blended tea has a distinctive sour taste, but the refreshing aroma of Kuromoji also creates a deep flavor.
Kuromoji is a deciduous shrub of the Lauraceae family that grows wild widely in the mountains and fields of Japan.
When you think of Kuromoji, many people probably think of toothpicks in Japan.
In other words, it has a strong connection with the tea ceremony, and is said to have been the perfect tool to cleanse the mouth between eating sweets and drinking matcha tea.
With its simple appearance and refreshing fragrance, the Kuromoji plant was a plant that suited the "wabi-sabi" aesthetic of the time.
As we begin to return to our daily lives after the New Year, please enjoy a relaxing tea time to soothe your mind and body.
