Major Cold
January 20th is "Major Cold".
The phrase "big and cold" indicates that the weather will become even colder.
These days, I feel even more grateful for the warm sunlight.
Blended tea No. 421 for the coldest days of the year combines "Fujikaori," a steamed green tea from Makinohara City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and "Yabukita," a pan-fried tea from Gokase, Miyazaki Prefecture, with rose red tea, cinnamon leaves, and black beans.
This is a blended tea that you can enjoy in a variety of ways, from the fragrant and gorgeous aroma reminiscent of soybean flour to a spicy scent.
It also has a refreshing sweetness and is easy to drink.
I feel there is a strong connection between the crisp air during the coldest moments and the tranquil atmosphere in a tea room.
Water was also said to be the purest of the year, and water drawn from wells and springs was called "water of cold."
It is said that using this water makes it possible to prepare pure tea in the tea ceremony.
The coldest time of the year is surely the time when the principle of harmony, respect, purity and tranquility that Sen no Rikyu preached as the spirit of the tea ceremony is most deeply felt.
Through harmony, we respect each other.
Be pure and quiet.
If you keep this spirit in mind, you will find the peace of mind to be able to appreciate beautiful moments and happy events with sincerity.
From adding hot water and letting the aroma release to putting it in your mouth.
Please take your time to enjoy the taste of the tea.
