This is stem-roasted tea from the native variety grown at Fujimien in Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture. Produced by a historic tea shop founded in 1868, the tea from fields that endure Echigo's harsh winters possesses a robust yet gentle flavor.

The term “native variety” refers to tea plants that have not been hybridized and grow wild in their region. They are said to develop thick roots that extend deep into the earth, yielding a rich, savory taste.

Its most distinctive feature is a rich, sweet aroma reminiscent of vanilla. You can also detect the characteristic earthy, savory notes of native varieties, like boiled adzuki beans.

With the second and third infusions, a spicy aroma akin to cinnamon emerges.
