Vernal Equinox
March 20th is the "Vernal Equinox."
It's a time when day and night are of equal length, marking a significant change of season.
In Japan, it's a special day to celebrate spring, with gratitude for ancestors and nature.
Among the 72 microseasons, the one following the Spring Equinox is "Sakura Hajimete Hiraku" (Cherry blossoms begin to open). This period, from March 25th to 29th, is when cherry blossoms start to bloom.
For the buds born from the cherry tree, the moment of their "first" opening arrives.
Sometimes, from someone you've already met, a book you've read somewhere, or experiences gained last year, you might receive new insights or flashes of inspiration in an unexpected moment.
Without seeking new encounters, something might "begin" from what you already have at hand.
As cherry blossoms scatter so quickly while contemplating such things, it's hard not to associate them with human life, just as our ancestors did.
For this Vernal Equinox, we have blended Oolong tea "Koshun" with cherry leaves and blossoms, peach leaves, and shell ginger leaves.
This is a pleasant blended tea where the elegant and sweet scent of cherry, symbolizing spring, integrates with the vibrant oolong tea, creating a smooth and delicate taste.
The aroma of wild grasses and nuts gently tickles your nose afterwards, making you feel as if you are standing amidst overflowing nature.
The aftertaste is light, yet surprisingly satisfying. Please take your time to enjoy the taste of Japanese spring, which can only be savored now.
