Clear and bright
Clear and bright
April 5th is "Clear and bright."
It is a time when all things become pure and bright, and in the scenery of full-blown spring, plants and trees vigorously bud. The clear air and soft sunlight cast a more vivid outline of the season.
Among the seventy-two microseasons, the first period of Qingming is "Swallows Arrive" (玄鳥至),
and the second period is "Wild Geese Return North" (鴻雁北).
It is a season when migratory swallows arrive from the south under the warm sky, and migratory geese return north. In this flow of life coming and going, we feel the deepening of spring and the certain cycle of nature.
The Manyoshu also contains a poem describing this scene:
The time for swallows to come has arrived, and the wild geese,
thinking of their homeland, cry hidden in the clouds.
Those returning afar and those newly arriving.
Perhaps within their intersection, their respective thoughts and times quietly breathe.
For such a Clear and bright blend, we combined "Karigane" made in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, with "Yabukita" also from Kyoto Prefecture, and added cherry leaves, hops, and barley.
Upon taking a sip, a gentle vibrancy spreads.
The light refreshing sensation of hops and the fresh taste of sencha overlap, with the roasted aroma of barley adding depth.
The result is a flavor that is bright and light like spring sunshine, yet has a gentle richness at its core.
The clear aftertaste lingers quietly, a flavor that seems to soothe the heart.
Please enjoy it as a cup that gently accompanies your new days.
